Real Estate License PrerequisitesWhat are the steps and requirements needed before obtaining your real estate license?

First, you must be 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Second, complete and satisfy the Sales Associate Pre-Licensing Course as required by the Florida Real Estate Commission. (Beken School Of Real Estate Inc can help you with this requirement!) You must pass a 3 hour End of Course Exam with a minimum grade of 70%. A grade report will be provided to you.

Once you pass the class, submit an application for the State Exam to the Division of Real Estate (DRE) with your payment for the application fee. Electronically submitted fingerprinting is a mandatory part of your application. Visit www.pearsonvue.com to complete the application online. You may submit your state application at any time before or after registering for class at www.myfloridalicense.com.

The Division of Real Estate will then process and approve your application to take the State Exam and Pearson Vue will send you information advising you how to schedule your exam.

Next, take your state exam! The grade report given to you after successfully completing the Pre-Licensing course must be submitted to the testing company at the time you take the exam. You will receive your results at the exam site, and the minimum score required to pass the State Exam is 75%.

Finally, interview different brokers. Once you find a good fit, activate your license with the broker. We suggest finding a brokerage that provides training and/or finding a mentor that will help guide you through your first few transactions.
